Architectural Aprroach:
The project is conceived as a refined linear intervention that negotiates between the dramatic natural landscape and the need for shelter.
Positioned on a steep forested slope, the building adopts an elevated horizontal form, minimizing contact with the terrain while maximizing visual continuity with the surrounding environment.
Guided by the concept of “shelter within exposure,” the architecture embraces the site’s extreme weather conditions—intense rainfall, shifting winds, and atmospheric storms—using them as a narrative framework rather than obstacles.
A robust concrete platform grounds the structure and protects against topographical challenges, while a warm timber façade with articulated screens creates filtered layers of privacy, shading, and environmental buffering.
Large openings maintain a constant visual dialogue with the landscape, allowing the interior to become a quiet observatory of nature’s changing moods. At night or during severe weather, the illuminated interior contrasts with the dark stormy surroundings, reinforcing the idea of the house as a serene, resilient refuge.
Overall, the architectural approach emphasizes minimal footprint, material honesty, environmental responsiveness, and a harmonious coexistence with the landscape, ensuring that the building both withstands and celebrates the power of its natural setting.
